Throwback: “Get Ready” from (hed)p.e.!
A day late and a buck short [it’s been a week! ~ Ed] it’s time to celebrate 16 years of an album that proved that you don’t have to be heavy to be cool. In 2006 Californian G-Punk outfit (hed)p.e. returned to their roots and in Punk Rock and created an album blending Hip-Hop with influences in The Clash and Sex Pistols while continuing the DIY recording style that they used with predecessor “Only In Amerika“. Being more melodic and dialing down some of that aggression doesn’t mean there isn’t an edge as lyrically it continues the some of the social and plotically aware narrative from the previous record. Guitarist Jaxon Benge comes into his own with Reggae, Ska and Punk riffs a plenty and left us with “Sophia” as a permanent fixture of the bands live set. Suburban Noize Records have us a couple of singles and “Get Ready” is our choice of the day!
