Throwback: “The Industrialist” from Fear Factory!

The protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise” ~ Burton C. Bell

It seems hard to believe but 5th June 2022 marked the 10th Anniversary of “The Industrialist“, the eighth studio album from American Industrial Metal Gods Fear Factory while also marking the band to the concept album. Recorded with vocalist Burton C. Bell and multi instrumentalist Dino Cazares as the last men standing in the band and with long time collaborators Rhys Fulber and John Sankey (Divine Heresy, Devil You Know) assisting following the departure of Byron Stroud and Gene Holgan after previous outing “Mechanize“. It gained mixed reviews with experiments in cuts like “God Eater” paying off while the drum programming which Cazares later looked to re-record with Mike Heller behind a real kit lacking at times bur remains a solid album none the less. Here’s the title track to serve as a reminder.
