Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Walled Rose Garden
Not for the want of trying but it’s fair to say it has been a while since we had anything even vaguely Progressive in this long running feature but oh how things are about to change. Back in 1979 Progressive Rock Gods Pink Floyd wrote their magnum opus in double album “The Wall“, a record which tells the story of Pink, an alienated young rock star who is retreating from society and isolating himself. In the chapter that is single “Hey You“, he comes to realise that he can not see or hear beyond the wall he has placed himself behind and becomes desperate to escape…
In the Blood Red Corner, not to be confused with the John Carpenter classic from 2001, we have Ghost On Mars with their version of the Pink Floyd classic. Known for combining dark melancholic atmospheres in order to obtain a more personal resonance in their sound they are often said to be inspired by science fiction culture which plays into this one nicely. In the Ice Cold Blue corner we have Bobaflex who recorded their version for 2017’s “Eloquent Demons” and is fast approaching 10 million streams on Spotify and YouTube combined making it their 4th most successful single. Who Wins? You Decide!
