Vs. Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Barbie?!

There is no way that director Greta Gerwig or stars Margo Robbie and Ryan Gosling knew what they were letting themselves in for when they signed up the turn Mattel’s Barbie into a live action fantasy comedy. Now they’ve given the World something with enough nauseating bubblegum pink to cause retinas to burn, they have the covers of “Barbie Girl” by Aqua coming out of the woodwork.

To that end, in the Blood Red Corner we have the 2023 re-recorded version of a rendition put out some eight years ago by Death In Rome. The music video was blocked by YouTube due to nipples and Hugo Boss uniforms on show as the band choose art over politics and joins a stack of other covers including works from Joy Division, System Of A Down and Taylor Swift.

Which means that in the Ice Blue Corner we the version created by Metalcore merchants ChuggaBoom, themselves no stranger to a cover having redecorated our brains with .any a flirtatious moment. They’re riding the crest of the wave that is Novembers “Death Pledge” album at the moment, a record that features members of InVisions and Sleeping With Sirens.  Who Wins? You decide!
