Throwback: “Procreation (Of the Wicked)” from Celtic Frost!
There is a reason that Italian label Time To Kill Records chose to put together “Mesmerized: A Tribute to Celtic Frost” and enlist Camera Obscura Two, Bunker 66, Doomraiser, Necrodeath, Kryptonomicon and Barbarian in doing so. That reason is because the Zurich natives are credited with having a strong influence on the development of several varieties of Extreme Metal with their avant-garde approach. Their debut album “Morbid Tales” was released in November 1984, making it 40 years old this year, something that is hard to fathom when classics like “Procreation (Of the Wicked)” still sound so damn cool. It’s no wonder that Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album as 28th on their list of The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. So if you thought that Blackened Thrash was a new thing… check this bastard out!
