NEWS: Face Yourself announce EP “Martyr”!

You may know Eric DiCarlo as a music video director from SquareUp Studios with works from Lorna Shore, Shadow Of Intent and Bodysnatcher to name but a few to his name. What you may not know is that he graces the stool as a drummer in Transcontinental Deathcore collective Face Yourself who are signed to Sumerian Records. The band have completed work on an EP titled “Martyr” which is pencilled in to appear on 18th April and was crafted with producer Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men, The Devil Wears Prada). Lyrical themes that flicker over the fragile line between strength and vulnerability are cut against skull crushing breakdowns with hauntingly melodic interludes and after the success of previous single “Sideration” the band have offered up “Predatory” as a second single.

The band comment: “Face Yourself is proud to release our newest single ‘Predatory’, alongside the announcement of our new EP ‘Martyr’ via Sumerian Records. ‘Predatory’ is based on a modern story with some metaphoric images. It’s about going to a dance with a stranger and quickly finding yourself in a dangerous situation. ‘Martyr’ explores struggles through difficult mental health battles. The lyrical content on the EP is based on vulnerability, and confronting your own demons. The record flirts between standing up for yourself, but also getting back to this dark place, as no one has a perfect linear mental health. Sometimes it takes a few trials to heal old wounds. With our producer Joey Sturgis, we tried to translate the theme through the impacts, melodies, vocals, making those emotions loud.”
