NEWS: Stygian set to burn this summer!
A new dawn, a new day, a new signing for Time To Kill Records. They’ve announced that come 4th July they will be distributing debut album “Dreadlands” by Italians Stygian. Hailing from Ravenna, the band delivers a searing hybrid of Crust Punk and Extreme Metal—tense, raw, and brutally honest, yet layered with dramatic melodic overtones. They claim their songs are short and punchy, but never rushed, allowing their ideas to unfold with deliberate intensity and submit “Death Rite” in evidence.
The band comment: ““Death Rite” delves into the primal instinct for survival and the visceral connection to ancient rituals of power and dominance. Through brutal and sacred imagery, the lyrics recount the story of a protagonist raised in the wild, devoted to hunting and violence as a means of self-assertion. The encounter with a “stranger” becomes an opportunity for a gruesome ritual, culminating in the consumption of the victim’s body and the symbolic assimilation of their strength. The track evokes a primitive and instinctual humanity, devoid of moral constructs, where the thirst for power and the connection to death merge into an uncompromising sacrificial act.“
“A journey through the contrast between two worlds: pagan spirituality, rooted in harmony with nature, and the legacy of Abrahamic religions, which often indulge humanity’s violent nature. Pagan religions, through sacred rituals, channeled these primal instincts, preserving the balance between humans and their natural environment. This album celebrates respect for life and the ancestral bond with nature, standing in opposition to the war and destruction that, in the name of faith, have severed that connection. A fusion of black metal and crust punk, infused with ritualism and ferocity, inviting reflection on what has been sacrificed in the conflict between spirituality and dogma.”
