A relatively young band, Mondegreen formed in Oxford in 2023 with a desire to rekindle the flames of Nu-Metal. Piecing together haunting melodies, dark atmospheres and emotive lyrical narratives with an unhealthy dose of aggression, the outfit aim to strike first and ask questions later. Want to know what that sounds like? Look no further than new single “Guidance“. A tale of internal struggle that will resonate, its special for several reasons. Not only does it mark the bands first cut of 2025 and their first recording with new vocalist Paul Berry but its also the first one they’ve mixed and mastered on their own.
Such things aren’t created without solid foundations and 2024 was that year with the four piece dropping five singles while admitting to influences in Linkin Park, Gojira and Kublai Khan. Add to that shows at The Jericho Tavern where they competed against the likes of Terraborn, Second Hour and Nvmeral in last years Metal 2 The Masses competition for the opportunity to play the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Open Air Festival. Those shows helped make “Are You Sure?” and “The Fires Are Alight” fans favourites, so be sure and check them out while you’re at it. A welcome addition to the Rabidfest offering this year, for Mondegreen it will be a home town throwdown!
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Moshville Times, Moshville Radio, Metalplanetmusic, GraphicsFix, TwoFace Promotions, Blackstar Amplification and main stage sponsor Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and this year the profits will be going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
