NEWS: Elbe await a place to die…

Although the lyrics of the album are mainly based around tough themes such as difficult relationships, life struggles, or feelings of loss, there is also an ever-present underlying layer of hope and new beginnings or so Czech Post-Metal collective Elbe claim. They speak of their third record “Peculiar” which is set to appear via Octopus Rising on 26th September while offering a music video “Place to Die” in evidence. For those unfamiliar with the outfit, they were originally founded as an instrumental project by guitarists Standa Jelinek (Dying Passion) and Martin “Spacosh” Perina (Between the Planets, Martians) but grew into a full band with the addition of drummer Jan Kylar, bassist Jan Stinka (both also of Dying Passion), and most recently vocalist Pavel Hrncir (Silent Stream of Godless Elegy). They have already graced us with albums “Sudety” and “Eschatology“, which brought them to major festivals such as Brutal Assault and MetalGate Czech Death Fest, and to the stage with bands like The Moth Gatherer and The Chasing Monster, so they are now ready to unveil their next evolution.

The band comment: ““Peculiar” is an outcome of a 2-year musical self-exploration of musicians from the band ELBE. The vocals were recorded over already finished music, which often required compromises or adjustments. It was a process of finding melodies and harmonies that would fit the overall shape and mood of the songs. Although the lyrics of the album are mainly based around tough themes such as difficult relationships, life struggles, or feelings of loss, there is also an ever-present underlying layer of hope and new beginnings. It is not a single, specific story but rather individual “tales” of each one of us. We believe that with this album of songs, we achieved to create something meaningful. Something that is touching and musically intricate at the same time.”
