NEWS: Sulphur And Mercury summon the seer!
Featuring keyboards by Freddy Delirio of Death SS, Traditional Metal stalwarts Sulphur And Mercury have shared “Summon the Seer” via label home Time To Kill Records. It’s the first new material from the band since last year’s EP “Alchemia Prophetica“, a six track affair that includes a cover of demo-era anthem “Heads Will Roll” by Satan. As if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, the track introduces a new line up around writing partnership of guitarist Francesco Conte and vocalist Jason Netherton (Misery Index) who bonded over their shared affinity for the darker incantations of 1980s heavy metal, along the lines of Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost.
Vocalist Jason Netherton comments: “With the release of Summon the Seer, we open a new chapter for the band, both musically and creatively. First and foremost, we relocated the band from Italy to Finland last year, when guitarist and main songwriter Francesco Conte joined myself (Jason Netherton – vocals) in Helsinki. We further reset things by adding a new, all Finland-based lineup with the addition of Kride Lahti (guitars), Jaakko “Spider” Forsman (drums) and Tami Luukkonen (bass). To me, Summon the Seer really captures the energy and spontaneity of the five of us hammering out the song (and even recording it) in our rehearsal room. It builds on the melodic and riff-driven classic metal we cherished in our formative years – yet we transform that inspiration into our own distinct musical beast“.
