NEWS: Cell Games raise hell once more!
Irish Industrial Nu-Metal act Cell Games have reimagined their debut single “Lament Configuration” ahead of a December EP release. Originally released in 2021 at the height of the pandemic when the band was a two piece studio project recording their parts separately, the track had fully programmed drums. Now after years of being performed live as a four piece the band have captured the full power and chemistry of their live rendition in the studio. The song’s title is drawn directly from Hellraiser…
Vocalist Maximillion Foy explains the song’s deeper meaning: “Lament Configuration was the first in a trio of songs – along with Relics and Ego Sum Papa – that explore my thoughts on the rise of the far right and the erosion of empathy. It was meant to be a cautionary tale when I wrote it before Covid, but it’s turned out to be disturbingly prophetic. It’s about that sense that things are changing for the worse, summed up by its opening line, ‘the nihilist in me smells dying on its way.’ As a horror fan, I wanted to channel that dread through a Hellraiser lens – it’s like we’ve solved the puzzle box, and the chains have dragged us to hell”
Guitarist Tristan Carroll: “The song has been in the set at every gig for four years and it’s taken on a completely different vibe with Deb [Finn-O’Brien, bass] and Niall [O’Carroll, drums] adding their playing to it. We wanted to show what the song that started this band actually sounds like now. That’s the guiding principle for the EP. The songs that started the band, updated to sound like the band as it exists today. Sort of like what Kittie are doing – just after four years instead of twenty-five.”
To celebrate the release, Cell Games will embark on their debut UK tour this November, joining forces with Straight for the Sun:
