Listmania: Metal Noise Top #5 Singles of 2025!
A category set aside for singles that are released as standalone, this one is one of the toughest to choose from and is usually made up of bands trying to establish themselves on the path to glory. This year is no different, which is why unlike the EP and Album categories there are no honourable mentions so buckle up and lets do this!
“Let Them Run” by Forlorn
As we found out at the meet and greet that took place before the album release show for “Aether” at The Black Heart in London, the record itself had been completed for about a year before it was finally released via Church Road Records. That meant that the Horror Folk inspired Progressive Metal quintet had plenty of time to scratch their creative itch again before the year was out and they did so with “Let The Run“. They even took it upon themselves to shoehorn it into their set at Reading Rising in November…
“Radio Bleed” by Survivalist
Its been a phenomenal year for Survivalist, the groove orientated Deathcore outfit giving us a pair of singles and a cover as well as sharing stages with on tour with Thy Art Is Murder and Heriot in Ireland. One of a number of impressive tunes produced, mixed and mastered by Josh Sid Robinson (Lock Horns, Uragh, Archives) at JSR Audio during the year with 63k of Spotify and YouTube streams combined “Radio Bleed” is an absolute banger!
“In Depths” by From Her Ashes
A band who specialize in quality over quantity, Derby natives From Her Ashes are a Tech-Metal quartet who have graced the stages of both Tech-Fest and Rabidfest. Polished, powerful and purposeful, a bleak and harrowing lyrical narrative about being lured in death by drowning by dark thoughts of chains and concrete boots mixed with punishing mid-tempo sonic abrasions, thunderous percussion and staccato riff breaks gives everything a menacing sense of perpetual darkness…
“Hollow” by Solothurn
Having previously created towering walls of reverb-drenched noise and raw emotion that blend 90’s influences from the worlds of Rock and Metal together with both heavy and melodic sensibilities, this time out Solothurn began an evolution into Progressive Metal territory. They somehow managed to do that without leaving behind their roots, the haunted, emotively tinged verse of this one being nothing short of powerful.
“Rage In The Rain” by Hellforged
In all honesty there was a time that we feared the Hellforged train had been derailed and as a band they would never be seen again however original members Ben Greenblatt and Luke Grunge had other ideas. They returned with “Rage In The Rain“, a track that slaps a demonic roar into a breakdown while having a tasteful acoustic introduction and cinematic orchestration. What more could you possibly want? How about some unhinged vocal moments that fit into the lyrical narrative like a man consumed by madness having lost it all?
