NEWS: Viserion pay tribute to the Mad King!

A concept album rooted in the myths of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones universe with “Fire in Rome” by Hubert Robert as its cover artwork is on the horizon from Queens New York based Black Metal collective Viserion. Titled “Fire and Blood” its narrative is centered around the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty, exploring the dark history and whispered legends surrounding their bloodline. If it wasn’t already obvious, storytelling has long been embedded in sound of the four piece with previous works “Natural Selection” and “The Iron Age of Kali Yuga” being the fire to light the way. The new record will surface on 16th January with “Mad King” now streaming.

The band comment: “Mad King musically captures the insanity of Aerys Targaryen II. We wrote the mood of the song almost as his thoughts. Sporadic and unstable. This song features our ability to change time signatures and tempos. Lyrically, it channels the delusions and brutal reign of Aerys II, culminating in his eventual demise. The writing process was sparked when Cris [Valentine, guitar] brought in the chorus riff, which was later developed with Tasso [Diakov, bass] contributing the closing melody that inspired a full writing session.
