Interview: Robb Flynn talks Machine Head departures?!
In this surprise video, Machine Head main man Robb Flynn announces that guitarist Phil Demmel and drummer Dave McClain will be exiting the group and that bassist Jared MacEachern may also be joining them. Flynn confirms that the next leg of the “Catharsis Evening with Machine Head” tour will go ahead as a farewell and celebration for the trio’s hard work over the years.
The suggestion is, though it’s not fully fleshed out, that Robb will continue the band will replacements. Rumblings of discontent have been heard previously with Demmel talking about his desire to do Media work including interviews for the band and “not being allowed”. For our part, we’d simply say that the current line-up isn’t the first and hopefully won’t be the last. They’ve been a fantastic quartet and delivered some amazing albums together, coming back from the brink with “From The Ashes of Empires” and to deliver what ranks as one of the best modern Metal albums in “The Blackening”. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing them live twice and this lineup will be tough to beat in that arena. There is however no doubt that thanks is in order for the years of amazing music and shows from this incarnation of the band.
