Vs. Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Poison Idea Edition

Portland, Oregon’s Poison Idea have to be one of the most influential bands around. Their 1990 third studio album “Feel The Darkness” is one that has been sighted as an influence by Pantera, Machine Head, Turbonegro and Kill Your Idols to name but a few and with even Metallica getting in on the act with a live cover of “Taken By Surprise” being performed in December 2018 on Hardwired To Self Destruct Tour. The Hardcore Punks had their career ups and downs and even dissolved for 5 years between 1993 and 1998 before calling it a day officially in 2017.

In the Red corner we have Fleshreaper who released their version of “Just to Get Away” alongside a cover of “I’ll Kill You To Survive” by No Remorse on their 2015 7″ vinyl split EP with Violation Wound. The St. Petersburg, Florida Death Metal infused Thrashers who are known for lyrical themes of Death, Horror and Life are a pair of pretty damn solid albums deep into their career.

In the Blue corner we have Tobias Schazmann otherwise known as Dirty Schazmann. Yes. That’s an acoustic guitar and a country version of the Hardcore Punk classic. This one was recorded at the same time as his self titled EP available here in 2000 but didn’t make the cut, unlike his version of the Descendents “Silly Girl” with complete with a lyrical change. Who Wins? You decide!
