Riff Police! Pull Over! #59: Motionless In White Vs KoRn!
As KoRn now officially have a new album on the way in the form of “The Nothing” which will arrive in 13th September and was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Mastodon, Deftones), it seems like a fitting time to have a band influenced by the Bakersfield California Nu-Metallers in the dock.
When we reviewed the new Motionless In White album “Disguise” a few weeks back, we said that they have something of a style mimic ability with a tendancy to create tracks that sound like the influences on their band. Their track “Headache” is easily the best KoRn track that KoRn never wrote.
Taking it one step further, listening to the track its influence is a single tune. They’ve used the riff pattern that accompanies the “Go!” breakdown from “Freak On A Leash” and used it as the main riff for their own tune. But you can listen to it and make up your own mind on that one. “Freak On A Leash” is not only one of KoRn’s finest moments but also has a classic music video. Who wouldn’t be influenced by that?
