The 12 Days of Christmas #9: Psychosocial by Slipknot!

The festivity of the twelve days of Christmas runs from 25th December to 5th January, based on an English Christmas Carol that sees a lover give gifts cumulatively over the Christmas season starting with Christmas Day. Originally published in 1780, it’s probably French in origin, Skull Island has been conquered many times in it’s rich heritage. So for the twelve days, we’re doing twelve Metal tracks that have something to do with the item. Believe us when we say… we didn’t think this would get this far…

“On the Ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me Nine ladies dancing, Eight maids a-milking, Seven Swans a-swimming, Six geese-laying, Five gold rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree”

Voliminal: Inside the Nine” was our first collective thought for this, being the third feature length warts and all film from Slipknot. Never got around to watching “Disasterpieces” which we’ve heard is a fantastic watch so maybe if there is a quiet moment during the festive period.. So from the heavily and in our opinion unfairly criticized fourth studio album “All Hope Is Gone” by the Nine Men from Iowa, it has to be “Psychosocial” by Slipknot. An instant sing-a-long anthem, it appeared in 2008 via Roadrunner Records and ironically not because of the music, in 2015 when speaking to Metal Injection, frontman Corey Taylor said it was his least favorite album because it was a serious challenge to make.
