Back in 1982 he recorded arguably his most important album in “Thriller” with Producer Quincy Jones and even managed to get Eddie Van Halen himself to donate a guitar solo to the albums eventual third single “Beat It“. This could be the first Michael Jackson head to head cover to appear in this feature but it might not be the last…

…In the Red corner we have German Metalcore act Annisokay. In June 2016 they unveiled not only new drummer Nico Vaeen replacing original member Daniel Herrmann but also a digital only four track EP in tribute to Michael Jackson entitled “Annie Are You Okay?” the phrase from which they took their name. A concept release that was hinted at six months earlier, it features Hardcore covers of the Michael Jackson songs “Beat It“, “Thriller“, “Scream” and “They Don’t Care About Us“. In the Blue corner, we have San Diego Californians Pierce The Veil. Part post-hardcore, part alternative rock, they’ve been around since 2006 and recorded their version as a bonus track during the sessions for their Equal Vision debut “A Flair for the Dramatic” a year later. After some allegations were made against drummer Mike Fuentes they went on hiatus and almost a year ago in February 2019 were said to be working on their fifth studio album. Who wins? You decide!
