Vs. Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Deftones.
In dedication to our good friend Al Bristow and his band Weaponry, it’s time to return to some of Sacramento California’s finest with “Diamond Eyes” by Deftones for this week’s head to head. The title track from their May 2010 sixth studio album, the first to feature bassist Sergio Vega as he sadly replaced Chi Cheng who was in a coma following a serious car accident that tragically led to his death from cardiac arrest three years later. Critically acclaimed and commercially successful, it was recorded with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters, Stone Sour), they went into the studio with just their instruments and no distractions to create what vocalist Chino Moreno calls a fantasy album with violent imagery and an over all positive and optimistic vibe.
In the Red Corner we have Krasnodar, Russian female fronted Alternative Metallers Blind Ivy who are shaping up to release a new album following the success of 2017’s “The Mess Age Inside“, although we may have to wait to find out if singles “Octagon” and “Nocebo” released since will find their way onto its track listing. In the Blue Corner we have Post Hardcore act Fine Young Titans who came from the Great Lakes region of Grand Rapids Michigan with vocalist Jennifer Bartlett described as “throwing in Chino Moreno-esque screams with murderous frantic shrills before breakdowns that make you want to dance AND throw people simultaneously”. Who wins? You decide!
