NEWS: Catharsis search for the “Village of Witches”?
The lack of a drummer hasn’t stopped Polish Death Metallers Catharsis in completing work on their sophomore album “Human Failures” as instead of the conventional route they’ve travelled the path less travelled. All of the drum parts themselves have been composed by Eugene Ryabchenko of Fleshgod Apocalypse fame who has also done extended live stints with both Belphegor and Vital Remains but the real surprise is that they have been recorded by former Vader and live Dimmu Borgir drummer Dariusz “Daray” Brzozowski as a session musician. As if that wasn’t enough of a mouth watering prospect then the album, produced, engineered, mixed & mastered by Filip “Heinrich” Hałucha in Heinrich House Studio and set for a 25th June release via Mad Lion Records, also includes a guest vocal appearance from Death Metal icon Ross Dolan of Immolation. Here’s “Village Of Witches” for your viewing pleasure.
Bassist, vocalist Adam Mamok comments: “I don’t remember where I read the article about African witch villages. Places where elderly people were sent, accused of magic and witchcraft by local communities. It was the only way they could survive. Otherwise, they would face death from the hateful crowd. We composed the introduction in the studio, having previously had a certain vision of what it should look like. It turned out very ominous. I always have shivers down my spine listening to this beginning. I associate it with the atmosphere of the Exorcist.”
