Track Review: “Avdi Vide Tace” by Spawn of Psychosis
After an initial seven year run which began in 2010 and saw Spawn of Psychosis drop two albums and an EP in 2012’s “Freakshow Pandemic“, 2015’s “Ministry Of Transition” and 2017’s “Ano Diablo Vol: 1” which stitched together a Frankenstein’s Monster hybrid of Thrash, Industrial Metal and Punk while playing support slots for acts like KMFDM, Dope Stars Inc and Mortiis everything went quiet on the Eastern Front. Band members dissipated for a variety of reasons leaving sole founding member Chris Dredge aka Spawn the last man standing and one daring to dream. …Translated from the Latin “here, see, be silent” ushers in the dawn of a new era for Spawn Of Psychosis with a powerhouse cut that is reminiscent of early Mushroomhead with an almost chanted main vocal a classic early 90’s post-Thrash Industrial Metal riff and synths perfectly balanced thanks to a solid mix and well layered instrumentation. Stepping away from the snot nosed attitude of their last EP, the Industrial Punk “Ano Diablo Vol: 1” and instead embracing new ideas with clarity of vision, Spawn delivers something both intriguing and unexpected. While his band previously crossed genre boundaries with ease, never being afraid to experiment, this new effort feels more refined and focused, refined in the fires of maturity and experience. Inspired by the idea of the presence of Aliens having populated the Earth and their presence being documented with the folklore of the Human Race, the lyrics are well thought out and structured so the listener can take their own meaning from them and while the track doesn’t have a virtuoso moment, it doesn’t need one because its rhythmic drive means it holds its own… [7.5/10]
