Spotlight: Proceed On Your Way To Oblivion detail “Ceremorphosis”!
After somewhere approaching four years in gestation, the debut album of Blood Blast Distribution’s latest signings Proceed On Your Way To Oblivion is finally set for release on 23rd September. Titled “Ceremorphosis” the album is primarily the work of the axis of evil that is drummer Michael Ranne (Through The Eyes Of The Dead, My Bitter End, Coma Cluster Void) and guitarist Steve Visone (We Are The Romans) who formed the band back in 2018. They were subsequently joined by vocalist Shane Jost (Cognitive, Proletariat) and bassist Nick Weyers (Aronious) and went into recording the record as a quartet.
The name of the band was taken from a line by Unicron, a character in the 1986 animated motion picture Transformers the Movie, although quite a bit of the subject matter contained in the lyrics are said to deal in Dungeons and Dragons lore. But that is not where it ends with a trio of guest appearances on a trio of the nine cuts that make the album being nothing short of jaw dropping. Firstly guest leads on “Atrophic Radiance” are handled by Steven Funderburk (Wretched, Through The Eyes Of The Dead) who after the album was completed became a full time member of the band as a second guitarist. Then Craig Peters from Deeds Of Flesh drops leads on one called “Ravenloft” and last but not least Joseph Mabry of Capstan fame sets his fretboard alight with a solo on “The Natural End“…
Steve Visone tracked the lead guitars for the album none other than Scott Carstairs of Fallujah at his home in LA as well as with Arde Ostari from Burning The Masses while drums, rhythm guitars, vocals, re-amping and engineering were done with by Michael Menocker at Backyard Boogie (my own studio) Recordings. So if you’re interested in this who’s who of the Death Metal World, pre-orders are available here.
The band has released two singles from the album so far, “Atrophic Radiance” and “The Whispered One” along with this drum playthrough from Michael Ranne Jr to whet your appetite…
