The Black Map #233: Deathfiend from Birmingham!

We travel from Belfast to Birmingham for this weeks entry in our Black Map of the United Kingdom Underground Metal scene and to a band who feature in their ranks John Pickering (ex-Doom, ex-Sore Throat). Infusing elements of Black Metal, Death Metal, Sludge, Doom, Crust Punk and Hardcore, Deathfiend have risen to prominence with their debut burnt offering “Beyond Life“. A record that features a guest appearance from Karl Willets (Memoriam, ex-Bolt Thrower), it was mixed and mastered By Carlo Altobelli (Gorerotted, Point Blank) at Toxic Basement Studio in Italy. It finds Pickering aided and abetted by Rick Farn is on bass and Andrea Pisu on the drums who both have prior convictions and is full of dirty dirge laden riffs with a neck snapping old school Death Metal quality with a venomous Crust Punk attitude. Drawing comparisons with Hellhammer, Motorhead and Benediction, expect the band to be burning down venues after shows up and down the length and breadth of this green and pleasant land…
