NEWS: itSELF return with an all star Death Metal guest list!

Fourteen years after their debut album “Make My Heart Suffer” the return of itSELF is set for 26th May with “The Absence“. Formed in 2005 by Ricardo Falcon (known for his work as a session musician recording bass and guitars for Death Metal legends Sinister and touring as a session guitarist with Belphegor for 150 concerts) alongside Estevan Furlan in Brazil, today the pairing are joined by Carsten Altena from The Monolith Deathcult, Linus Klausenitzer from Obsidious and formerly Obscura and lastly Jason Peppiatt from Psycroptic. For the album they present eight vicious cuts with first single “The Verdict” a poignant yet uncompromising story about the sin of Wrath after an unfortunate woman is finally pushed too far from her experiences at the hands of her abusers. Both musically and lyrically raw and eye opening, the song is a bludgeoning example of the brutality that can be expected from the band’s upcoming full-length release.

If you don’t fancy the age restricted video then you can also stream the cut with pre-orders available over at bandcamp.

The band comment: “What To Expect? The first 7 lyrics and melodies of the album The Absence were composed around the idea of having one different deadly sin per song. Deadly sins have always been a part of human nature. They are the things that we do that we know are wrong, but we can’t help ourselves and they are often used as a metaphor for the worst aspects of our human nature. This thematic choice resulted in unique melodies for each track that fit the theme of the deadly sin it represented. And in the end, by the last track, all seven sins are ultimately defeated by one act of redemption: a suicide letter written by Ricardo himself. This cathartic finale provides a fitting end to an album that is sure to stay with you long after it’s over.

When we began work on The Absence, we had no idea it would take more than two years to compose. More than 200 hours were spent mixing, and countless hours were spent in pre-production. We knew we wanted to create something special, but the process of getting there was far from easy. We spent countless hours in the studio, mixing and tweaking every last detail until everything sounded perfect.

It was a true labor of love, and we are so proud of the final product. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
