Rabidfest 2023: Breaking Down The Bands #6: Tribe Of Ghosts!
They say that time flies when you’re having fun, but the reality is it also flies when you’re working your fingers to the bone in a nine to five grind waiting for that next pay check so you can go to a few gigs and festivals… which tenuous link brings us to this weeks incarnation of our “Breaking Down The Bands” series ahead of this years fifth anniversary of Rabidfest! This years event will take place at The Bullingdon in Oxford over the weekend of the 4th and 5th November 2023 (ticket links below) with the profits going to The Sophie Lancaster Foundation which you can find more about here. If the promise of two days of wall to wall Metal in various flavours wasn’t enough to get you counting your pennies and buying a ticket then here are the nine bands announced so far…
Blaze Bayley
Absolva
Ward XVI
Mortishead
Tribe Of Ghosts
Gutlocker
Imperium
From Her Ashes
Draconian Reign
Having roots that go back as far as 2016, Tribe Of Ghosts cite the beginning of 2022 as when their artistic vision came to fruition, a kind of rebirth of the project under the same moniker which they had previously gone by if you will. Since then they have released a pair of singles in “Cold” and “Reign” which combine haunting electronic soundscapes with eclectic Extreme Metal influences and pop vocals, the female fronted Brighton based quartet taking inspiration from the dystopian tales of “I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream“, “1984“, “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Fahrenheit 451“. The power of the new material and their happiness with its bleak origins gave them new ambitions and on the crest of the wave took them to winning last years Metal 2 The Masses competition and giving them the opportunity to play the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock Open Air Festival last summer, something they grasped firmly with both hands. Self describing their new sound as “dystopian music for a totalitarian world“, they have shared their Industrial Post-Metal vision with the World, shared stages with Forlorn, Gloomweaver and Incite while tearing down your blue skies. We can’t wait to witness their live offering on the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage at Rabidfest in November because quite simply put they’re one of the hottest tickets in town…
We’re proud to be a Media Partner of Rabidfest again this year alongside Red Death Media, Moomin Merchandise, Metalplanetmusic, Moshville Times, GraphicsFix, Unearthed Music and main stage sponsor Devolution Magazine. The Festival is all for charity and this year the profits going to the The Sophie Lancaster Foundation!
