Throwback: “Writers Block Party” from American Standards!

Six years down the road and the flaming Hardcore Punk of 2017’s “Anti-Melody” by American Standards is still worth its weight in Gold. Formed in Phoenix Arizona circa 2011 and known for the high energy, high intensity live show, by this point the band had already hit a trio of home runs with 2012’s “Still Life“, 2013’s “The Death of Rhythm and Blues” and 2014’s “Hungry Hands” giving audiences what they wanted. Ideas for album number four started to fall into place as early as 2016, however tragedy struck and much of the lyrical narrative was re-written due to the passing of founding guitarist Cody Conrad and vocalist Brandon Kellum’s father, something which is said to have served as therapy. Recorded at Kingsize Soundlabs (Attack Attack, Jesus and Mary Chain, Letlive) in Lost Angeles California, the album maybe personal but also deals with issues like separation, “Writers Block Party” being our choice for todays essential listening.
