The Black Map #270: Adharma from the United Kingdom! (Reading Rising IV Edition)

A man walks into a bar with a giraffe. They both get pissed. The giraffe falls over. The man goes to leave and the bartender says, ‘Oi. You can’t leave that lyin’ there.’ And the man says, ‘No. It’s not a lion. It’s a giraffe

27 day until Reading Rising on 18th November at the Facebar in Reading and we’re telling jokes from 28 days later. HELP! So here’s the deal. 12 bands. 2 stages. 0 clashes means you can collect your poison of choice on the way to the next band without missing a beat. Fresh from joining In Fear and TheCityIsOurs in opening for Heart Of A Coward at The Fleece in Bristol and armed for the apocalypse with new single “Porcelain” is Adharma, a lady who insists “female fronted is not a genre“. Adharma is the alter ego of Charlie Draper who specialises in telling tales based on personal experience set to a backdrop of what you might loosely call Alternative Metal performed alongside a four piece band. We say “loosely” because there is so much more here than meets the eye as Pop is infused with Progressive Metalcore and hits of DJent with glorious clean vocals and brings to mind bands on the outer edge like Copenhagen Kings Siamese. Regularly working with Shaun Hodson of Loki Films has ensured quality when it comes to creating music videos and surpassing 46k of Spotify streams alone for 2022 album “Mirror Mirror“, laced with lyrical confessions confirms she’s on the right track. We don’t like to use the words “gateway band” but you could bring your daughter to the mosh pit slaughter safe in the knowledge that she’d enjoy this one at least…
