Review: “Eulogy” by A Titan, A Deity
Eight years and three EPs down the yellow brick road in search of balance finds Tech-Fest heroes A Titan, A Deity, a band affectionately known as ATAD by lovers of A Day To Remember aka ADTR finding it in a new EP.called “Eulogy”. A trio of songs released as one to follow a trio of songs in “Shattered by the Touch“, “In Dreams” and “Godwyn” which were unveiled by waterfall in 2023 and are fast approaching 125k of streams between Spotify and YouTube alone, those numbers should speak for themselves.
A band who deserve to be celebrated, Midlands Progressive Metalcore outfit A Titan, A Deity are a band capable of much who consistently deliver more. The first 30 seconds of “Revenant” puts bounce and aggression into the mosh pit before a seamless transition to a dreamy almost ambient passage stuns. The two extremes then intertwine for a gorgeous verse of clean vocals before the sucker punch of a vicious unclean verse and stuccato riff breaks. The two extremes on paper shouldn’t work together and yet here, in the calloused hands of this band, the work like fuel and fire. Complex, heavy, melodic and awe inspiring all in one fleeting moment. “Petrichor” then does the same thing but from an entirely different angle, the heavy guitars and breaking for a lush clean passage before a powerful chorus that makes great use of vocal layering. A Titan, A Deity soar like the bastard child of Periphery, Erra and August Burns Red on this one, a beast of a track that underlines their credentials for a bigger, brighter future not once but twice. There was always going to be a bleigh! moment and it comes at the start of the majestic title track “Eulogy“, a cut of epic grandeur deserving of performance at The Royal Albert Hall. Embellished mid tempo chug paints a picture in technicolour before a Mosh part with a Born Of Osiris style turn around in the riff puts the icing on the cake. This next step maybe short but it’s razor sharp and bold enough to be presented to big name labels in search of a life changing deal. It’s that good [9/10]
