The Black Map #276: Them Bloody Kids (Summer Bash 666 Hell In Hawaii Edition)!
“It’s the return of the… “Ah, wait, no way, you’re kidding… He didn’t just say what I think he did, did he?”
Yes, he did. On Saturday 13th July the annual Hawaiian Beach Party that is Summer Bash, hosted by Progressive Death Metal Kings Mercury’s Well will return to The Facebar in Reading for a sixth time. What can you expect? As with the fifth incarnation, 10 bands will take to the stage for fun and frolics with inflatables, Hawaiian shirts, flower necklaces and cocktails (or mocktails, whichever floats your boat!) so literally all that will be missing is the sand (try getting that past security!). It will be a day that crosses sonic borders and boundaries with everything from Hardcore to Hard Rock, Industrial Alternative Metal and Blackened Sludge Doom because as we all know, variety is the spice of life. The ticket link is at the bottom of this article but before we get to that, here’s the all important line up in full:
Wallowing (headliner)
A Night In The Abyss
Mercury’s Well
Them Bloody Kids
Maziac
Masquerader

Summer Bash has always been a genre blending affair so who better than London Alternative Metal outfit Them Bloody Kids to play this years event? They have been blurring the lines between Punk, Groove Metal and Hard Rock since their 2018 inception and having surpassed 500k of streams with 2021 debut album “Radical Animals“ its clear that formula works. The follow up to their 2019 EP “The Angel“, that record saw them work with producer Justin Hill (Hacktivist, The Five Hundred, SikTh) who recorded, mixed and mastered before a release through Blood Blast Distribution. Time has not stood still for the band either as they threw out the baby with the bathwater with single “Help Me” last summer. What can you expect from them at Summer Bash then? Confrontational and often politically charged lyrics with the odd sing-a-long chorus over raw, stoner doom-edged rock riffs and groovy hooks. All of that will be delivered with verve and gusto as they convert anyone who hasn’t heard of them before into a disciple leaving anyone who has getting sweaty in the mosh pit. You’ve been warned.
We are a proud Media Partner of Summer Bash for the second year in a row! Fancy a ticket? Fancy a pre-order t-shirt to collect on the door? Get them here.
