Throwback: “Ghost Of The Sun” by Katatonia!

2003 might have been seen the rise of the Gothenburg sound inspired American Metalcore scene but it was also the year of “Viva Emptiness“, the sixth studio album by Swedish Heavy Metal masters Katatonia. Gothically tinged with keyboards to embellish the crushing guitars, as the title suggests, it runs on themes of loneliness, relationships, lying and depression… which kind of makes it sound like a Nu-Metal record. However it’s not and it’s 10th Anniversary was celebrated by a  re-release in 2013 which features new keyboard arrangements and was completely remixed and remastered by David Castillo. So here’s personal favourite “Ghost Of The Sun” to remind you just how good it is…
