Throwback: “Resurrection” from Chimaira!

An album at the centre of the bands career in Groove Metal, it seems unbelievable thatĀ  “Resurrection” by Cleveland Ohio bruisers Chimaira has reached its fifteenth anniversary. Released in March March 2007 it was the bands first after exiting their contract with Roadrunner Records, something which theĀ  documentary The Dehumanizing Process had pointed as as being a cause of friction, with Ferret Music and Nuclear Blast picking up the pieces. Produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium, Bury Your Dead, The Black Dahlia Murder), the new label wasn’t the only first as keyboardist Chris Spicuzza made his presence felt with backing vocals previously done live making the final product. Also documentary, drummer Andols Herrick appeared to be unenthusiastic about constantly being on the road. He returned home to attend college to obtain a music degree during the tour cycle for “The Impossibility of Reason” and returned just before the writing sessions of “Resurrection” to replace Kevin Talley (Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Nonvector) who handled the bands self titled album that came between the pair. Rejuvenated, it is a shade lighter than the bands self titled album and stands the test of time, making it a great way to start the day!
