Throwback: “Speed Til You Bleed” from Bewitcher!

As Portland Oregon Blackened Speed Metal outfit Bewitcher are celebrating a decade of destruction in 2023, it’s time we hop in the DeLorean beside Doc Brown and head back to 2016 to talk about the self titled debut album. Running on themes of Hedonism, Witchcraft, Satan and Metal, the record followed an unholy trinity of demoes and a compilation, each of which demonstrates a raw, fiery and wild quality with an Old School feel. It might be a little formulaic towards the end the tremolo picked guitars begining to sound a little too similar but the dedication to the cause is to be applauded. There are moments that sound like Mayhem playing Motorhead covers and that vision lead to the evolution in the bands song writing and earned them a deal with Century Media a little bit further down the line.
