Interview: Vimic discuss “Open Your Omen” with Heavy New York!

Having reached $63k of their $25k target in the first five days of their Kickstarter campaign, it’s safe to say that the previously shelved debut album “Open Your Omen” from Vimic will finally see the light of day. It is of course the final work of former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison and was recorded at his home and Sound Farm Studios in Jamaica, Iowa after he rebranded project Scar The Martyr with the recruitment of vocalist Kalen Chase. Joining the pair are of course former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris, former Strapping Young Lad guitarist Jed Simon, former Bad Wolves bassist Kyle Konkiel and keyboardist Matthew Tarach.

Curiously it is guitarist Jed Simon who has been entrusted with taking part in an interview with the almighty Heavy New York. Discussing everything from his thoughts on the record to working with Joey Jordison and of course the passing of time between completion and release is what you’d expect but what you might not is that the campaign mentions a reunion show in Los Angeles in September. If you want to participate in the Kickstarter, you can find it here.
