Listmania: 5x Bloodstock 2020 Possibilities! Part #1: Headliners!
Following our two part gambling man’s punt on potential headliners and underground acts at this year’s incarnation of Tech-Fest, it’s time to turn our attention to Bloodstock. The annual Catton Park, Walton on Trent Derbyshire Metal Festival will be taking place over the weekend of the 6th August and be celebrating its 20th Anniversary this summer! 33 acts have been announced already, with the annual Metal 2 Masses events kicking off to offer a yellow brick road for the unsigned to compete to win a slot. So with 187 days to go, here’s our top #5 possibilities for this one…
As Jinjer and Butcher Babies are already on the bill, what are the chances of Moldova’s Napalm Records signings Infected Rain joining the party and making it a trio of bigger name female fronted acts after they return from a stint in the US?
With Philip H Anselmo and The Illegals performing a “Vulgar Display of Pantera” already on the bill and the presence of Thrashers Vio-Lence and Sacred Reich, we’d love to see Exodus complete with Gary Holt back on board at the Festival. Maybe the quartet of acts could do an all star Slayer cover during one of their sets?
If Infected Rain and Exodus weren’t your scene, then how about some Deathcore? The resurgence of Californian heavy hitters Suicide Silence with new album “Become The Hunter” would make them an ideal candidate to decimate the hoardes.
South coast Metalcore heroes Our Hollow Our Home are more than deserving of a slot at this year’s anniversary event with their DIY shows being a must and the Impericon Never Say Die! Tour last year going off! It would be a fitting finale for the “In Moment // In Memory” tour cycle before the band work on studio album #3.
For our last choice, we have to go big. It’s the 20th Anniversary and with Devin Townsend, Judas Priest and Behemoth already on the bill, it has to be Sepultura. We know they’ll be in Europe at Mystic Festival in Poland earlier in the year, so it would be the ideal way to bring it home screaming “Roots Bloody Roots“! We’ll be back with our top #5 Underground Metal possibilities for Bloodstock this time next week!
As with Tech-Fest, we have no insider knowledge of further acts to be announced at Bloodstock. This is pure speculative fiction and a piece of fun for reading over a beer. Tickets for Bloodstock Festival are available here.
