Vs Tuesday Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FiGHT! Top!
Back after a week off for bad behaviour and with that electronic ankle bracelet firmly attached, our longest running feature Vs Tuesday pits two bands against each other the boxing ring to determine which one has the best cover version of a classic. This week we rewind the tape back to 1983 and “Eliminator” by ZZ Top, a Hard Rock classic. The eighth studio album from the Texas legends gave them their most successful single in “Legs” and kept the motor running with the album named after a drag race term while featuring upon its cover a customised 1933 Ford Coupe. May bassist Joe Michael “Dusty” Hill rest in peace.
In the Red Corner we have the self styled American Badass Kid Rock himself. He covered the classic a Stacy Keibler’s theme for WWF Forceable Entry because wrestling is big business and landing yourself an entrance theme cut is a big deal. In the Blue Corner we have Overland, whose version appeared theĀ year before the Kid Rock version on a compilation titled “Gimmie All Your Top“. Who Wins? You decide!
