Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Killswitch Engage.
Without a doubt one of the stand out tracks from “As Daylight Dies“, the fourth studio record from Metalcore mainstays Killswitch Engage, “My Curse” is an instantly recognisable classic from 2006. Lex Halaby was tapped up to shoot a music video for the single, having previously done so for “A Bid Farewell” and a radio friendly version of the track with re-recorded clean vocals from Howard Jones replacing the album’s uncleans also appeared, something the band had also done with “Rose of Sharyn” two years prior. Howard Jones vocals are however so damn good, that both versions of the track are equally good for different reasons. So without further ado, to this week’s head to head…
In the Red Corner we have Vicky Psarakis, a Greek American singer, best known as the vocalist of Canadian metal band, The Agonist, having replaced Alissa White-Gluz in 2014 when she joined Arch Enemy. She’s joined by guitarist Cody Johnstone for her version of the track. In the Blue Corner we have Fit For A King vocalist Ryan Kirby, who is joined by Phinehas guitarist Daniel Gailey in a Metalcore dream team. So both teams have well respected musicians and a vocalist and guitarist combination at work. Who wins? You decide!
