Riff Police! Pull Over! #52: The Acacia Strain Vs Suicide Silence!

Having just celebrated its tenth anniversary it’s time we spoke of “Continent” by The Acacia Strain. The Chicopee Massachusetts Deathcore heavyweights have been around since 2001 and having beefed with Emmure for a long time the opening track of that beast of an album “Skynet” could either feature a 3 line vocal attack on the lambgoat.com message board or a direct piece of fire at Frankie Palmeri and his band. Only vocalist Vincent Bennett will know for sure and he denies the later. Not that you can’t be a fan of both bands of course and Emmure fired back with “R2Deepthroat” before the beef got squashed anyway. That was 2008, the bands first album with then and since departed bassist Jack Strong. Oh and the video is absolute class!

That brings us to Suicide Silence. The Riverside California Deathcore crew formed just a year after The Acacia Strain and released their sophomore album “No Time To Bleed” via Century Media in June 2009 to critical acclaim. So much so that it got a “body bag” edition A year later. From that album “Disengage” was a surprise single as it got a music video in April 2010, back in the days when all the videos weren’t out in the pre-cycle. Check out that riff. Influenced? You decide.
