Riff Police! Pull Over! #70: 3 Inches Of Blood Vs Judas Priest
Canadian Metallers 3 Inches of Blood had a 16 year career that came grinding to a halt in 2015 but was not without controversy. Drummer Alexei Rodriguez was fired in 2007 after a starting a fight at Hard Rock Hell Festival with Saxon dummer Nigel Glockler. He ended up with a black eye and broken glasses but Rodriguez came out of it worse, beaten by security at the event he landed up hospitalized with a broken elbow. 2008 saw the band record an album entitled “Here Waits Thy Doom” and with unclean vocalist Jamie Hooper out of the picture, it was the fourth studio album and featured not a single original member of the band. But it’s their final 2012 offering we’re going to focus on, called “Long Live Heavy Metal”. Clean vocalist Cam Pipes penned what can only be described as a love letter to Rob Halford, the leather lord of Metal and the band took inspiration and wrote a song that sounds… just like “Painkiller” by Judas Priest! The 1990 single from the album of the same name was often live accompanied by Halford riding on stage on a Harley-Davidson, dressed in Motorcycle leathers and wearing his trademark sunglasses. Does it get more Metal than that?
