The Black Map #96: Dirty Casuals from Cork City!
It’s been a while since we crossed the Irish Sea for a page in our black book of the Underground Metal Scene that is otherwise known as The Black Map so we figured it’s about time we spread the word about Dirty Casuals from Cork City. The Groove Doom quartet with just a hint of Sludge Metal in their sound formed in 2015 and have created sonic havoc with a pair of Extended Plays in 2018’s “Light And Dark Matter” and 2019’s “Simulation“. The band – Liam Whitnell, Samvel “Sammy” Hovhannisyan, Jim Spillane and Rory Taylor – have never left Ireland to play a show, despite being regulars in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Waterford. But here’s the thing. That could all be about to change. 28th March will see them take to the stage to compete against Kyrovian, Organ Blender, Witchkicker and Zephire in Heat #7 of Metal 2 The Masses Ireland 2020 at Fibber Magees in Dublin for a chance to win a slot on the New Blood stage at this years 20th Anniversary of Bloodstock. So with Bailer already confirmed as joining the event, these boys deserve a crack. Afterall, they’re the Kings of Metal Memes.
