Rewinding the tape to 1992 and American Alternative Metallers Helmet, who incidentally we got into off of the back of their appearance on the soundtrack to Brandon Lee’s The Crow, it’s time to pay tribute to “Meantime“. Not just a hugely commercially successful album but also one that influenced a whole myriad of bands in its aftermath and it’s impact is one that is still felt today, 28 years later. Considered one of the cornerstones behind both the subsequent Post-Metal and Nu-Metal scenes due to Page Hamilton’s signature guitar playing style, it’s a pivotal moment in Metal history.

So to our head to head. In the Red Corner we have husband and wife collaboration My Ruin who smashed their version in the era of “Ghosts and Good Stories” as a band who have an albums worth of covers in their back catalogue. In the Blue Corner we have Ken Mode, who did their rendition for the 2016 Magnetic Eye Records tribute album that is available over on bandcamp here. What else do we need to say? Who wins? You decide!
