The Black Map #131: Blight Town from Nottingham!

Nottingham is one of those cities with a rich heritage when it comes to Metal. Obviously you’ve got the likes of Pitchshifter, Iron Monkey and Earthtone9 but you’ve also got a thriving underground scene with Miscreant and Blight Town shining lights. Who are Blight Town we hear you cry? They’re a Progressive Post Hardcore outfit who like a to infuse a bit of Mathcore in their tea blend. The also layer up clean and unclean vocals in Metalcore style, with angular riffs and jagged bass lines. Sound complicated? Singles “Jejunum” and the hilariously titled “Argument Bargument“, a play on the transient nature of the modern relationship against a math rock soundscape of odd time signatured chaos would tell you otherwise. Both songs will appear on an EP set for this year, recorded, mixed and mastered by Myroslav Borys at Jigsaw Audio, the man who helped by Confessions of a Traitor and Last Hounds so there are exciting times ahead the quintet.
