Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Negative Creep.
Often sidelined and underrated, the debut Nirvana album “Bleach” has some absolute rippers on it and deserves more credit that it often gets, hiding in the shadows of “Nevermind“, “In Utero” and of course that MTV unplugged album. There have been plenty of bands influenced by it and who have chosen songs from it for covers. Who can forget the take on “School” by Fear Factory?
In the Red corner we have Cultus Black, a band who are said to feature in their ranks former members of Motograter but who have otherwise kept their identities a closely guarded cult secret. They have just a pair of singles out in “Witch Hunt” and “You Make Me Sick” but were set to record their debut album with Producer James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Hands Like Houses, Paramore) in Late August of 2019. In the Blue corner, it has to be Machine Head. Their version of the track has surfaced on various compilations including 2003’s “The Heart of Roadrunner Records” since it’s 1997 recording with the help of the legendary duo of mixer Andy Sneap and producer Colin Richardson. Who wins? You decide!
