The Black Map #182: Azazel from Nottingham!
The Black Map isn’t around the World in 80 Days but an ongoing weekly feature that enables us to tell you about a few of the lesser lights of Heaven when it comes to the UK Underground Metal scene. So from the Isle Of Man last week we head head to Nottingham and the house of The Sheriff… Recorded, Mixed and Mastered by their bassist Josh Pearson (Depravity, Gassed Up, Labyrinth) of Bleak Audio, Nottingham Deathcore quintet Azazel have got a forthcoming EP “Cut Me In Half & Starve My Left Side Mind” in the works and have smashed out a trio of singles to give you plenty of warning of the dark times to come. The better part of 97k of streams between Spotify and YouTube for “Wound“, “Lice” and latest single “Salt” which features a guest vocal appearance from none other than Josh Davies of Monasteries can not be wrong and the improvement on the new material when compared with 2018 EP “Bedlam” is there for all to see. Rounded out by vocalist Tristan Hill, drummer Sam Geeson and guitarist duo Jack Donachie and Jimmy Hikin the ground have sharpened up their edges and found bowel clenching new lows while sharing stages with the likes of Black Tongue, Miscreant and A Night In Texas in building a reputation for an absolutely crushing live show. It can only a matter of time before the sophomore EP drops and when it does, tectonic plates are going to shift…
