Throwback: “Cold” from Static-X!

Some anniversaries feel pretty natural when they come around but 22 years of “Machine” by Static-X feels a little strange. The band will embark on “Rise Of The Machine” tour (the title a Terminator pun) in both the US and Australia this year as they continue to celebrate the life of Wayne Static with a mysterious masked frontman believed to be Edsel Dope of Dope fame at the centre of the stage. That will be followed by the release of a new album in “Project Regeneration Vol 2” in November, a second the feature reworked music around vocal tapes left behind by Static.

So to our throwback cut of the week from an Industrial Metal classic and it has to be “Cold“.  One of a trio of singles from the record alongside “This Is Not” and the monsterous “Black And White“, it was given a magic video directed by Nathan “Karma” Cox and Linkin Park turntable guru Joe Hahn that pays a homage to Richard Matheson’s classic 1954 horror novel I Am Legend. Switching sub-genres the cut went from Zombie to Vampire as it appeared on the soundtrack to “Queen of the Damned“…
