Throwback: “Whacko Jacko Steals The Elephant Man’s Bones” from The Fall Of Troy!
We regularly use and abuse our weekly throwback feature to celebrate the anniversaries of albums and EPs we know and love that… May have been pushed to the side by the sheer sonic weight of new music flowing into our ear canals. So from the archives today we pluck the 2003 self titled album from American Screamo trio The Fall Of Troy, from which “Whacko Jacko Steals The Elephant Man’s Bones” is the cut of choice. A band who have always been hard to define, the trio are characterized by their love of creating technical, intricate music in unorthodox song structures with ridiculous energy levels, not to mention the screams of Thomas Erak. Odd time signatures and spine judderingly abrupt temp changes or transitions between melody and dissonance place them somewhere between Post-Hardcore, Grindcore, Progressive Metal and Math Rock, so we just ignore that as they have created a vast array of cracking tunes to help you breathe more easily. After all, 38 million Spotify streams for “F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X” from the 2005 sequel “Doppleganger” doesn’t lie…
