Throwback: “The IVth Crusade” from Bolt Thrower!

When it comes to the almighty Bolt Thrower, picking a favourite album is damn near impossible. There is a cigarette paper between them, such is the quality of their burnt offerings, so let’s just crack a beer and celebrate an anniversary instead. Recorded at Sawmill Studios in August 1992 with Producer Colin Richardson (Fear Factory, Carcass, Machine Head), the Coventry Death Metal bands fourth album “The IVth Crusade”, has reached it’s thirty second year, a notable milestone. Their first foray into Death Doom with influences from Candlemass and Pentagram, it saw the band slow down dramatically with the emphasis on heavier sounds from thicker gauge strings played by calloused hands. Here’s the title track to serve as a timely reminder of their crushing legacy.
