NEWS: The Northern return with “Absence”!

A new line up of The Northern looks set to deliver yet more DJent orientated Metalcore with the Toronto Canadians unveiling new single “Absence”  via Blood Blast Distribution. Recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Jonathan Dolese (156/Silence, For The Fallen Dreams, Half Me) at Konkrete Studios in Nashville, Tennessee it’s their first since 2024’s “Place Of Solace” with this year marking a decade of existence.

Mike: “What started as a ‘swan song’ for my dog, Chakotay, unexpectedly turned into something much deeper. While we were recording in Nashville I sent the first version of this song to my brother, Chris, while he was in the hospital to lift his spirits. He was always my biggest supporter and loved that dog as much as I did.

Watching him fight his own battle made me realize this song needed to be for him too. After Chris passed in late 2022, the band and I decided to dedicate this track to his memory, my family, and Chakotay. It’s an ode to anyone who has ever walked the difficult path of loss.”
