Summer Bash 2026: An Introduction to Maxwelltheband!
Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird…! It’s a plane…! no! It’s an inflatable palm tree coming to bounce off your skull! That’s what’s going to happen in the mosh pit as Mercury’s Well scream “Fire!” while throwing their instruments around with the vim and vigour of those possessed come 18th June. That’s the date the Progressive Death Metal trio have cordially invited you to join them at The Facebar in Reading as their annual shindig Summer Bash turns eight. For those not in the know, the Hawaiian themed beach party has been the talk of the town for quite some time, bringing everyone to the yard to partake in sing-a-longs, cocktails and moshing because it’s fun! For the purpose they’ve lined up nine other bands to help them redecorate the venue with sweat and spilled drinks so why not invite your friends, family and even the odd stranger. You know you want to!
Here’s the line up in full:
Vanitas (headliner)
a-tota-so
Mercury’s Well
Masquerader
Monovoid
Maxwelltheband
Bobby Mandala’s Midnight Elite
Halloran

Pain Itself
Have you ever seen a band name that made you do a double take like… wait… what? There are definitely a few of those floating about in the ether of cyberspace. Take Southampton Emo quartet Maxwelltheband as one example. They could have called themselves anything. Maxwell. Maxwell (the band). A band called Maxwell. But no, the Pavement, Jawbreaker and Jeff Rosenstock inspired quartet chose to compress their moniker so its all one word. Let’s just hope it has nothing to do with the god awful poison that is Maxwell House coffee. Yuk. Anyway, we digress. The four piece first appeared on the scene in 2021 with debut single “Arm’s Length” and have since played shows up and down the south coast of England’s green and pleasant land with the likes of Treehouse, Cutting Ties and Negative Measures. Back in January they looked on as Sugar Free Records released their sophomore EP “MWTB“, which of course stands doesn’t stand for “Mercury’s Well: Trail Blazers” but is in fact a self tilted affair. Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Sam Allen and Alessandro Cogolo at Tidal Wave Productions, it’s their most ambitious work to date from which we have to say “Pity” is a personal favourite. So if you love expressive American accented vocals, intricate guitar melodies and personal yet poetic sing-a-long vibes, come and join the party!
We’re proud confirm that Metal Noise dot Net is returning for a fourth consecutive year as the Media Partner for Summer Bash! Mercury’s Well will be hosting the eighth incarnation of their annual Hawaiian beach party themed event on 18th July 2026 at The Facebar in Reading!
