Rabidfest 2026: Breaking Down The Bands #13: Bldsugr!

“Go ahead and get it off your chest, With what you may survive, Now give it, Nothing’s what it seems, Unlucky 13!”

Following the news that due to reasons outside of their control the 28 Days Prior Rabidfest warm up show has been cancelled, we turn our attention to the main event itself. Ironically enough it will of course take place at it’s spiritual home, The Bullingdon in the heart of Oxford, over Halloween weekend! Both Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November will see ten bands per day take to the Devolution Magazine sponsored main stage, so you have the soundtrack to your haunting lined up as you dance with the other ghosts, ghouls and goblins! Skeletons, witches and demons are also welcome! It’s a party and you’re all invited!

Rabidfest itself will take place at The Bullingdon in Oxford over the weekend of the 31st October and 1st November 2026, here’s the line up in full:

You’ve seen the name on the poster but you haven’t got a clue who Bldsugr! are and don’t want to look like a thicky, thicky dumb dumb in front of your mates? (Thanks for the line Cody Dahler! Owe you one!) Well you’re in the right place! Conceived in 2023 in the industrial heartlands of Birmingham, Bldsugr! are a trio who have cleverly constructed a sound that they like to call “Doom Punk”. If it wasn’t obvious what that means, while dancing with the devil on the thirteenth floor, they combine elements of Shock Rock with Doom Metal and Gothic vibes so you get something theatrical with occult overtones. If you’re not sure what that means then we recommend you check out songs like “The Ant Burns Under the Magnifying Glass“, “Carmlilla” and “S.W.R.M!” which incidentally, combined, have surpassed 300k of Spotify streams alone. None to shabby eh? If you like what you hear, the band will actually be releasing a new EP titled “The Fields” in late October, so you can not only expect new material in their set but also get your greasy paws on physical copies of the record!
