Throwback: “Mortification of the Vulgar Sun” from Obscura!

It seems strange to think that five years ago as German Technical Progressive Death Metal act Obscura released the brilliance that is “Diluvium” that it would be the last record from the Kummerer, Trujillo, Klausenitzer and Lanser era line up of the band. The album is the fourth and final installment of a concept record series that began in 2009 with “Cosmogenesis” and a decade after that first record, we had the pleasure of witnessing the band live in London with Fallujah, Allegaeon and First Fragment. Each album in the series has lyrically been inspired by the writings of famous German philosophers, building from the beginning of existence with the big bang theory all the way to the development of human from ape. So here’s “Mortification of the Vulgar Sun” in celebration of some thought provoking complex Metal that is deserving of attention.
